2018 Ram Promaster

According to our reliable insiders, 2018 Ram Promaster will most likely come with some changes, compared to current model. This model came in 2013 and after several years of production, company want to refresh it for a bit. This could be a so-called mid-cycle refresh, but we don’t expect many significant changes. As you probably know, this model is pretty much a re-badged version of Fiat Ducato, which is in this shape present for over a decade. It should come redesigned in next several years, and its American version should go in same direction. The 2018 Promaster  should come somewhere late this year, and we should see some smaller cosmetic updates, while mechanical part should carry on withouth changes. It should also keep pretty much the same price.

2018 Ram Promaster redesign

2018 Ram Promaster front viewAs we already mentioned, 2018 Ram Promaster could receive some changes. We doubt that there will be some major modifications, especially in mechanical aspect. On the other side, we could see some visual updates. Current model is pretty much the same as van from Fiat, and we believe that 2018 Ram Promaster could receive some of Ram’s design language, which will surelly provide a look more suitable to North American market. On the other side, interior should come without changes. We will see familiar cabin, which comes with high level of comfort, despite the fact that this is a commercial vechicle. Besides plenty of space, it will feature high-quality materials and offer excellent usage of space. The last mentioned will provide plenty of cargo space, probably more than competitors. Also, expect latest technology features like touchscreen with infotainment system, navigation, climate control, satellite radio and many other.

This is the part where are the biggest differences between this and Italian version of the van. While European model are primarily with diesel aggregates, 2018 Ram Promaster will feature a large gasoline V6 engine. It is a famililar 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 engine, which will for this occasion come in configuration with around 280 horsepower. It will come in pair with 6-speed automatic transmission, which delivers power to two or all wheels.  Optional, 3.0 liter diesel with 240 horses will be in offer too.

You stated that the ram promaster for 2018 will come with an optional all wheel drive.

    How is this accomplished?

Will the 2018 Ram Promaster 159 wheel base still come with cargo area side window option? Thanks.

Will this van come with a real manual transmission option like the rest of the world??

  4. Michael Jogodka says:

I will be ordering a 2018 promaster 2500 with a lot of options to use as a light duty camper but only if it is with a diesel. Mid 2017 the diesel option was removed as a power train option.

Fiat showed off a 4×4 concept developed in collaboration with French automotive specialist Dangel.

And I ask, well — are they or aren’t they gonna offer it for 2018 model year?

    • fiat says:

For now, there is only a concept. Still not certain whether it will be a production model, but there are big chances of it.

when will Promaster switch to the current Ducato headlights They look much better.

  7. bill branan says:

the current 2017 promaster offers about $6000 in incentives. Will the 2018 unit carry similar incentives early on? Thanks,

    • fiat says:

It is hard to tell at this moment. Incentives vary and depend on the state and the business policy of the company at that time.

will the 2018 ram promaster be towable wheels down?

  9. Ran Krus says:

Will they make the cargo floor stronger to allow for easier install of seats back there?

  10. Heiko Baran says:

If I ordered a 2018 2500 or 3500 diesel Promaster today, when could I expect delivery?

  11. Ran Krus says:

Will they have a tilt adjustment for the steering wheel? How about seats that are a bit lower? Those were the two drawbacks of the current Promaster that really stood out to me.

  12. David says:

Agreed with Ran, the non tilt steering wheel has a bus like feel, and, Mercedes, and Ford both have tilt options.

Have been eyeballing this vechile dor quite awhile. Will, the 2018 have LED lamping, meaning headlights and tail lights, have been holding back waiting on this. Also, will adjustable steering be available, has juat about everything else I need, have a multitude of differentiation of height in my family, and everyone will be driving

  13. Peter says:

I was at my dealer yesterday and was trying to order a 2017, no more 2017 orders can be taken. I had been on Rams Build and Price website for months making decisions. There is no option for 2018 models now. How can I see what options are available and what changes have been made?

  14. eb1888 says:

Hopefully “the next redesign” to finally rid us of headlights from Vulcan will be 2018. The Ducato design language is 10x better. They’ve had time to resolve the rumored gas engine cooling space road block. I also strongly vote for the addition of the Daily to the lineup especially in diesel trim. Even if diesel is the only option.

  15. Scott J Weselis says:

What about a conventional RWD version with SRW or DRW like corporate cousin IVECO? It’s a much stronger platform for American trucks and RVs.

  16. chris says:

I see that there was no response from Fiat regarding the seats/steering post. For taller drivers, the telescopic range of the steering wheel needs to be increased. And yes, the wheel needs a tilt function and the seats need to be lower. This is really basic stuff that is widely recognized.

  17. Ken says:

When they redesign the front end. Will we be able to put that front clip on the current Promaster
